Nice edition with bookplate bearing the arms of Beatrice, daughter of Queen Victoria.Halfway between fiction and history, Frederic W. Farrar (1831 - 1903) combines literary elements and historical research to produce an interesting fictional account of the story of St John Chrysostom. Saint John was a Father of the early Church, loved for his compassion. Farrar eulogises St John by creating an interesting account of the historical events in his life. Gathering Clouds is more theologically and spiritually serious, and conveys certain theological and spiritual points.
