Perhaps no American knows Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States better than John Duke Anthony. He is the only American to have been invited to every meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council since its inception. He became interested in the region as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins SAIS, where he earned his PhD. Throughout his lengthy professional career, he has been immersed in the region. He is the founding chairman of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, which is dedicated to improving relations between the region and the United States. U.S. relations with the region have been his life's work.
