Parsifal is an opera in three acts by the German composer Richard Wagner. It is loosely based on Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival, a 13th-century epic poem about the Arthurian knight Parzival and his quest for the Holy Grail. Wagner conceived the work in April 1857, but did not complete it until 25 years later.
