A relatively short and concise flora for students and researchers for quick identification of their collections. Published in 1956 it contains the plant species known in Sinai up to that time. In 1974, the new revised edition of this flora was published by Cairo University. It contains numerous hand drawings for many plants, including those of Sinai.

Vivi Laurent-Täckholm (1898 - 1978) was a Swedish teacher, botanist and writer, who worked in Egypt, and was also a children's writer with The Lord of the Snipps, Snapp, Snorum. She studied botany at Stockholm University and graduated in 1921. She then travelled to the United States from 1921 to 1923, earning her living by doing various jobs. Later, in 1926, she married the botany professor Gunnar Täckholm (1891-1933). They settled in Egypt, starting work on the important Flora of Egypt.
